Job Details

CEA : A MAJOR PLAYER IN RESEARCH

The French CEA (Commission for atomic energy and alternative energies) is a major player in research, serving our citizens, the nation’s economy and the state.

The CEA’s mission, rooted in cutting-edge fundamental research, is to offer solutions to the major challenges of our time: defense & security, energy transition, digital transformation and, last but not least, healthcare and medicine of the future.

For more than 80 years, the CEA has been committed to advancing the scientific, technological, and industrial sovereignty of France and Europe, working towards a more secure and sustainable future.

Located in regions home to major French research clusters, the CEA has a wide range of academic and industrial partners in France, Europe, and around the world.

The CEA’s 20,000 employees share three core values: a Sense of responsibility, Cooperation, Curiosity

CEA’s Fundamental Research

The Fundamental Research Division (DRF) of the CEA brings together more than 5,000 people across multiple sites and conducts research in the physical, chemical, biological & biomedical, and environmental sciences, drawing on cutting-edge technologies.

Within the DRF, the François-Jacob Institute of Biology (IBFJ) is tasked with strengthening basic research and developing translational and technological research in three areas:

  • Human health;
  • Medical and environmental genomics;
  • Radiobiology and radiotoxicology.

Description of the Unit

A department of the IBFJ, founded in 1997, the CNRGH (National Center for Human Genomics Research) is the leading French research center dedicated to biomedical genomics, ranking among the top five in Europe in terms of expertise and resources. Its dual role – as a national infrastructure (within the “France Génomique” consortium) and as a research center with numerous collaborations across Europe – is unique in France.

Internationally recognized for its exceptional technological and methodological expertise, the CNRGH plays a key role in developing resources and expertise to support the French and European human genomics communities as well as its own projects. This success is perfectly illustrated by the publication of approximately 80 peer-reviewed articles each year, as well as the CNRGH’s major contribution to the French genomic medicine initiative (FMG2025).

Drawing on its unique expertise, the CNRGH is now seeking to recruit a Senior Researcher to reinforce its scientific programs and strengthen its position as a driving force and leader in ambitious, high-impact collaborative biomedical research projects, both at the national and international levels.
