Job Summary

The Guitar & Ukulele Tutor will deliver engaging, high-quality instrumental tuition to children and young people of varying ages and abilities. The tutor will inspire students to develop technical skills, musical understanding and confidence while fostering a lifelong enjoyment of music.

Job Description

The Guitar & Ukulele Tutor will deliver engaging, high-quality instrumental tuition to children and young people of varying ages and abilities. The tutor will inspire students to develop technical skills, musical understanding and confidence while fostering a lifelong enjoyment of music.

The successful candidate will create an inclusive, supportive and creative learning environment and contribute to concerts, showcases and the wider musical life of Wac Arts.

TERMS
Duration: Saturdays during term time from Saturday 26th September 2026 until 10th July 2027.
Taught in 10-week blocks, for each of the 3 terms
Hours: 4.5 teaching hours per week, 09:45-15.45
Payment: £35 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)
Reports to: Programme Manager
Location: Wac Arts, 213 Haverstock Hill, London, NW3 4QP
Deadline: 23:59 on Friday 4th September 2026

Job Requirements

*Excellent instrumental technique on Guitar and Ukulele
*Strong understanding of effective music pedagogy
*Relevant music qualification or equivalent professional experience
*Experience teaching both beginners and more advanced learners
*Ability to motivate and inspire young musicians
*Ability to engage children aged approximately 4-11
*Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
*Good organisational and time management skills
*Confidence using music resources, backing tracks and digital teaching materials where appropriate
*A collaborative spirit and flexible approach to group needs and learning styles
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with young people, colleagues, and parents/carers
*Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
DESIRABLE
*Training in safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
*Experience working in community or inclusive arts settings
*Experience with film editing and sound design to support animated projects
