TEACHING & LEARNING COACH Clardy/Gashland

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Current Missouri Teaching Certification.
  2. Masters degree in Education or Arts required. Areas of focus in Curriculum and Instruction, Literacy/Reading, Teaching and Learning with Technology
  3. Several years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  4. Experience in integrating technology with teaching students while using strategies that fall in Daggett’s “Quadrant D”.
  5. Knowledge and experience in facilitating teaching and coaching adult learners.
  6. Recognize the need to raise standards and expectations to enhance instructional effectiveness to keep pace with changes beyond the classroom.
  7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.

REPORTS TO: 

Deputy Directors of Elementary & Secondary Education and Building Principal.

JOB GOAL: 

Provide support and leadership services for administrators and teachers as the instruction in classrooms transforms to Quadrant D learning, as measured by the Rigorous & Relevant framework to foster student success.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Continue lifelong learning with the capacity to use the “train the trainer: model for implementing district initiatives and have skills to develop the curriculum for use in the buildings.
  2. Work in the classroom with teachers to improve literacy instruction, AVID strategies, technology integration and Quadrant D learning.
  3. Collaborate with teachers and administrators on assessment for learning and use of assessments in an ongoing and sustainable manner along with application of software and technology to assist students.
  4. Supervise ongoing literacy assessments, analyze results and assist teachers in linking assessment to instruction.
  5. Model instructional practices in classrooms in supporting PLTs, cohorts and literacy based.
  6. Plan and conduct regular grade level or subject content meetings in buildings with PLTs.
  7. Monitor the implementation and provide feedback to the building principals and teacher leaders on progress towards implementation of the Rigor and Relevance Framework, 1-1 Initiative and Whole School Literacy Focus.
  8. Understand and apply the Rigor & Relevant framework as a common language for curriculum, instruction and assessment.
  9. Collaborate with building principals, teacher leaders and Academic Services to facilitate professional development.
  10. Collaborate on a regular basis with the Instructional Coordinators, Executive Director of Technology and Director of Professional Development in order to disseminate district information.
  11. Provide job-embedded assistance to support instructional effectiveness that will improve student learning/achievement: Collaborative instructional reviews; model rigorous and relevant instruction; Lesson review and design; Literacy strategies; Effective technology integration into instruction (transforming lessons)
  12. Assist administrators and teachers by providing monitoring, training and tools that support transition to high quality standards and aligned authentic assessments.
  13. Understand and apply strategies that cultivate learner engagement.
  14. Leverage technology and other proven instructional tools and practices.
  15. Infuse technology into curriculum, instruction and assessment.
  16. Support the 1:1 computing environment and technology integration in curriculum.
  17. Comply with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
  18. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk, hear and speak and must have close moderate and distance vision ability. This individual must be able to travel between district facilities. The position requires a moderate amount of travel and physical activity.

The work environment is consistent with typical office/school environment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board Of Education. Benefits according to Board policies.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: 

Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate

CLEARANCES: 

Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance

EVALUATION: 

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based Teacher Evaluation process.
