Use Your Creative Talents to Advance one of Premier Journalism and Communication Colleges in the U.S.

The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications is seeking a versatile, creative writer and editor to lead the creation of editorial and marketing content for one of the top programs in the nation. This position will be an integral part of a creative team of professionals focused on elevating the visibility, reputation, and brand awareness of one of the largest journalism and communications programs in the country. The output from the team plays a vital role in student, faculty and staff recruitment, fundraising, thought leadership and more.

About the Opportunity

The role requires a talented writer with broad range of writing and editing skills for feature stories, news stories, marketing copy and executive correspondence. Assignments will include writing and editing news stories about recent College developments, profiles of students, faculty, staff and alumni, regular newsletters promoting the College to various constituencies, correspondence to alumni, content for promotional flyers and brochures, creating and updating pages/sites on the College’s website, helping to publish an annual, award-winning magazine and other creative responsibilities.

This position will report to the director of communications and marketing.

Commensurate with experience 

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area; or an associate’s degree and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in communications for a higher-education institution
  • Public relations writing experience
  • Experience with creating multimedia content
