We’re looking for a 3D animator and projection artist to design and animate a flock of stylised swifts, inspired by stained glass, for a beautiful 3-minute indoor light projection on gauze and architecture.
Projected inside the nave of a centuries-old church, the piece will begin with the 3D birds appearing to fly through the church (an illusion created via projection onto gauze) then transition into a 2D animation as the birds peel off and fly along the stone walls and arches.
This will be one of several pieces celebrating swifts, but this one will be the most 3D/illusion-based in approach.
Application Deadline: Sunday October 5th, midnight.
Flat Fee: £1500 (for an anticipated 5-6 days)
Project Timeline: Week of October 27th.
Generally, we’re looking for a lovely collaborator with a strong creative sensibility to work with on building a beautiful installation. Swifts are fascinating little creatures, and we’re excited to be celebrating their story!
More specifically though:
A 3 minute animation of stylised 3D swifts, inspired by stained glass textures, melting into 2D animation
Think: swifts swooping, flocking, circling, and disappearing as if into the distance
A loopable or smooth-outro sequence for ambient play during the show
File formatted for projection onto gauze, with depth for a 3D illusion
Synced to (or influencing) audio installation
