Our Lady of the Fatima School is a co-educational, Catholic, parish school in Artesia, CA, that is seeking a 3rd/4th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. SUMMARY OF MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Utilizes individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student in a Catholic-faith-based environment,
• Develops and implements unit instructional plans in social studies, literature, and grammatical instruction, with emphasis on sentence structure and writing.
• Creates and implements effective formative and summative ELA and Social Studies assessments in the above areas to track and ensure student learning.
• Maintains a safe and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Identifies the emotional, social, and academic needs of all students, and cooperates with colleagues to assess and help students solve health, attitude and learning problems.
• Regularly communicates with parents on student progress and updates online gradebook.
• Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Social Science, or related area.
• Experience educating junior high school students.
• Joyful, authentic, team player and servant leader.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Over 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in a Catholic school.
• Master’s Degree in English or related area.
• Credential: Multiple Subject Credential or Single Subject – English or Social Science Credential.
• Prior experience with an online gradebook and learning management system (e.g., SchoolSpeak, Google Classroom).

Wage Range

The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
