Description: The new research team led by Dr Anna Maria Mandalari at the Electronic and Electrical Engineering department is looking for a motivated PhD students to work in the areas of Internet of Things, AI, medical IoT devices, security and privacy. The student will work on providing better security and privacy for edge devices, AI for medical devices, and networking systems.

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·        Performing world-class research on edge/network privacy and security

·        Writing research papers, articles, and present results at leading international conferences, e.g., S&P, IMC, NDSS, PETS, etc.

·        Collaborating with internal and international teams of research scientists

You will also have time to develop your own research agenda towards a successful career in academia or industrial research. We offer close supervision on your research, access to international collaborations, the possibility to travel to international conferences to meet with distinguished scientists, and excellent working conditions. The student will work under the supervision of Dr Anna Maria Mandalari and will join and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of PhD students and postdoctoral researchers at UCL Dept of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, located in central London.

Funding: This is a funded 4-year studentship to cover the 3 years Home/Overseas student’s tuition fees plus a 4 years £21,237/year stipend for living costs increasing with inflation as well as a top-up contribution towards travel and consumables. Person specification: The candidate should meet the entry requirements detailed here: https://www.ucl.ac.uk/prospective-students/graduate/research-degrees/electronic-and-electrical-engineering-mphil-phd for PhD programmes at UCL EEE.

They should have at least an upper second-class honours degree (2:1 or equivalent qualification) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related fields. Experience with research is not required but is a plus. Also desirable: experience in either the development of data management systems or mobile/IoT systems.
