Job Description
This term we are looking for actors to join the company for a period of 9 weeks full-time, to devise and perform in a reworked version of our programme ‘The Last Train’, and also deliver other parts of our schools programme and share the responsibility of being company members.
The company has specific funding to support two ‘early career’ performers through a reflective rehearsal process, offering an opportunity to experience the skills and philosophies of our participatory theatre approach. Bring existing strong acting skills and a commitment to creating work that makes a difference, and this project will offer you the fully-paid chance to develop your abilities and understanding of one of the most challenging and rewarding forms of theatre.
The Last Train was originally created by the company in 2009 and centres on the story of a young girl escaping Nazi Germany on the ‘Kindertransport’ and coming to the UK. There are details about the project, and the work of the company in general on our website at www.theplayhouse.org.uk
Contract will run from 19th October – December 18th [generally Monday-Friday] Wage £650 a week. Augmented Equity/ITC contract. Rehearsals are in Ladywood, with performances in schools in the West Midlands
Job Requirements
You will need to have an understanding of theatre-in-education/applied theatre, strong performing experience and ability, and a commitment to theatre-in-education work. Knowledge of Birmingham an advantage.
