White Noise Theatre are seeking actor-writers for their scratchnight and development opportunity Write Noise Night.

Job Description

White Noise Theatre are seeking collaborators to be involved in London’s scratchnight for actor-writers: Write Noise Night.

The night will present a line-up of noisy new work created and performed by actor-writers. PLUS, Over the course of the night, when the actor-writers aren’t performing, they will be writing a NEW collaborative piece, to be shared in a special, show-stopping finale.

We will offer:

  • A £50 honorarium per artist
  • One in-person rehearsal with a director
  • Dramaturgical support and one feedback session on your play from our Artistic Director, Selwin Hulme-Teague (Squidge, Joe Carstairs, NewsRevue), and Associate Artist, Maria Telnikoff (My Dad Wears A Dress, All The Men Are Going To Hate Me, With Nail and Without Nail)
  • Two nights to test out your work in front of an audience at The Pen Theatre in South London

Key dates:

  • Application deadline: 9pm, Sunday 17th November
  • Hear back by: Friday 22nd November
  • Dramaturgy meetings: w/c 2nd December (online or in-person)
  • Rehearsal day: Monday 16th December (in-person at The PEN Theatre)
  • Tech: Thursday 19th December (The PEN Theatre)
  • Performances: 7:30pm, Thursday 19th & Friday 20th December (The PEN Theatre)

You MUST be available for the in-person rehearsal day, tech and BOTH performances.

Job Requirements

We are looking for:

  • Solo or group of actor-writers
  • With a play, monologue or extract in development
  • And a passion for collaborative, experimental theatre.

Your submission could be an extract from a play that fits the brief already or a new idea in response to the call out. We will only accept pieces that:

  • Are 10 minutes long or less
  • Haven’t been performed in front of an audience yet
  • You / your group can perform yourself
