Your Role

As an Economics Officer, you will provide technical knowledge in economics; conduct economic analysis and forecasting; monitor economic, social, and political developments; maintain and manage databases; and administer relevant technical assistance (TA) projects in the assigned SPSO countries.

You will:

• Monitor, analyze and report on country economic, social, and financial sector developments ; contribute to economic bulletins and country and regional cooperation profiles; and maintain a comprehensive database on key indicators of the economy.
• Prepare the relevant country section for the Asian Development Outlook and undertake economic analysis relevant for developing forecasts using appropriate macro models for the host country.
• Support the economic, thematic, and sector work, coordinating the relevant analyses, studies, and engagement between HQ-based and region-based staff in a timely manner.
• Support ADB’s country strategy and programming process by tracking and assessing economic performance and developments, including important economic policy initiatives of the government, and analyzing their possible effects for ADB operations.
• Contribute to the preparation of the Country Partnership Strategy, Regional Approaches, and participate in Country Operations Missions.
• Contribute to the preparation of the Country Performance Assessment.
• Participate in and organize seminars to share findings of relevant economic sector work supported by ADB.
• Support implementation of assigned TAs by providing administrative support in the recruitment of consultants, preparing relevant correspondence, and contributing to TA completion reports.
• Support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Financing Policy (SDFP) for relevant countries as assigned.
• Maintain productive working relationships with country clients and stakeholders, and development partners and private sector representatives, as relevant.
• Perform other tasks that may be assigned and reflected in the workplan.

Qualifications

You will need:

• Bachelor’s degree in economics or finance preferably with advanced training.
• At least 8 years of relevant professional experience, including evaluating macroeconomic performance and undertaking sector economic analysis.
• Professional experience in international agencies will be an advantage.
• Seasoned knowledge of public policy, public financial management, and macro-economic planning will be an advantage.
• Proficiency in common office software and systems used in similar multilateral organizations.
• Proven ability to undertake background research and analysis on difficult but well-defined tasks, collect and organize required information.
• Ability to effectively manage work and deliverables within timeline and standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
