You will:
- Be EARD’s focal on RCI and represent the department on RCI-related matters and events, and prepare briefing papers, discussion materials and speeches on trade and RCI issues.
- Work with the EARD management, country teams and sector teams in ensuring that the upcoming project pipelines adequately reflect RCI considerations, including coordination with Central and West Department (CWRD) on Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) and with Southeast Asia Department (SERD) on the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS).
- Coordinate with sector and thematic teams and country economists of PRCM and MNRM on economic work and high-level policy advice to DMCs covering economics, finance, trade, private sector development, RCI, and help develop the country partnership strategy (CPS) and diagnostics.
- Process and implement Technical Assistance (TA) and prepare TA completion report.
- Represent the department in Bank-wide projects such as task forces for the Asian Economic Integration Report (AEIR) and the Asian Development Outlook Regional Economic Outlook in close coordination with the Economic Research and Development Impact Department (ERDI).
- Work with the Economist overseeing the Department’s knowledge management and RKSI with enhancing visibility, impact and imprint of south-to-south experience sharing.
- Work with the Senior/Principal Operations specialist on strategic support including technical assistance projects on East Asia and Mongolia.
- Work with the Regional Head, Private Sector Development on annual programming of projects and other activities for EARD in private sector related areas.
- Undertake any other related additional economic tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
You will need:
- University degree in economics or public policy or related social sciences; preferably at post-graduate level or its equivalent.
- At least 6 years of specialized experience in economics, public policy, and regional cooperation, or other related areas relevant to the position.
- Written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience applying expertise in an international setting within the sector.
- Experience working in a developing nation and international experience working in some countries.
- Credible expert in field of expertise with recognized projects and to share relevant knowledge to benefit the broader ADB community, in a way which may further enhance ADB’s ability to: (a) Recommend solutions to address DMCs’ specific economic, sector or thematic needs, based on wide range of experience and best practices; (b) Structure and implement TA project, and (c) Manage risks more effectively by understanding DMCs, their environment (including the political, social and technical aspects), development priorities and economic / sector / thematic issues.
