Job Description Summary

Candidates should be passionate educators who can facilitate the needs of diverse 21st century learners who aspire to practice in the field of English.

Candidates should demonstrate (1) a mastery of their specific discipline; (2) a deep commitment to the college mission of fostering student success, achievement and persistence; (3) technology competencies (4) teaching/counseling skills and strategies that facilitate 21st century literacies; (5) the use of resources that prepare students for productive lives; (6) an understanding of instructional technology; and (7) a mastery of writing competencies and best practices for teaching writing courses.

Minimum Education:

Master’s degree in English or a closely related field, with 18 graduate credit hours in English. PhD preferred.

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • A demonstrated interest in teaching developmental/basic writing would be a plus, as would experience in teaching general literature courses.
  • The successful candidate must have a high level of computer literacy and a commitment to teaching.
  • Broward College places special importance on helping under – prepared students achieve academic success.
  • All schedules require office hours and some may require evening and/or weekend hours.
