The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, Division of Music, seeks applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor in Saxophone and Clarinet starting in the fall semester of 2023. This is a part-time, semesterly appointment with potential for semesterly renewal. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with fellow Division of Music faculty to teach Applied Saxophone and Clarinet to music majors and minors.
Candidate must possess Master’s Degree or higher in Saxophone Performance, Clarinet Performance, or Music Education, (in lieu of education, candidate may possess commensurate professional experience); have excellent musical, verbal and written communication skills; should possess the ability to teach students with a wide range of musical backgrounds; should be committed to the sustaining and growing the enrollment of the UVA Wise Division of Music. Preference will be given to candidates who articulate a clear understanding of UVA Wise’s public liberal arts mission. Candidates who can only teach saxophone or clarinet will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates who can effectively teach both. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. UVA Wise will not provide a work visa for this position.
