Job Description

The Administrator role sits in an admin team with the General Manager and Finance Assistant. The administration of The Theatre provides vital support to specific departments, and logistically holds the building together. The role covers a varied range of tasks and focuses on anything that makes life at The Theatre smoother and easier for the team. It would suit someone very organised and efficient, who also enjoys solving problems and looking after their colleagues. The role also looks after the administration of our external hires including room hires, birthday parties and a few weddings. This ranges from meeting and showing around prospective hirers, ensuring preparations and contracts are completed, and following up after the event.

Job Requirements

The Administrator role is diverse, and demands the usual degree of flexibility, a high level of multi-tasking, organisation and lots of energy! We are looking for someone quick-thinking and energetic, with an interest in the arts world. We would be just as happy to hear from those starting out in their careers as well as those with prior experience, and we encourage the post holders interests to come to the forefront.

The role’s primary responsibilities cover general admin, operations, hires, attention to the wellbeing of all theatre staff and any other duties or support to departments that may be requested from time to time.

Job Responsibilities

The role reports directly to the General Manager, with whom it works closely. It supports all departments within The Theatre.

Person specification (essential)

  • A confident, enthusiastic personality
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft environment)
  • A high standard English literacy
  • A high level of personal organisation and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including over the phone
  • Initiative, drive and an eye for detail
  • Enthusiasm for the arts world, particularly live performance and film
  • Living in or near Chipping Norton and/or with access to independent transport

Person specification (desirable – we do not expect one candidate to have all of these)

  • Experience of arts venues and theatre making
  • Experience of marketing and the design process
  • Experience of working with contractors and managing supplier contracts
  • Confidence in communicating via Social Media
  • Previous experience of working in the arts
