Course Description:

Development of critical listening and speaking abilities. Focus on listening strategies and skills in context-reduced speech with varied delivery rates and text types. Systematic exposure to a variety of registers and accents. Practice in understanding the language of meetings and assemblies, and note-taking. Development of skills for fluent and accurate oral language use in a wide range of university workplace situations including conversation management and self-monitoring skills. Refinement of vocabulary and grammar use, and pronunciation skills. March 10 to April 9, 2025, Monday and Wednesday 12:00pm to 1:30pm. Please note that this course is given online (virtual mode).

Requirements:

B.A. with specialization in a field relevant to the teaching of L2 English or Higher Certificate in L2 English Teaching. Two years of experience teaching ESL at the college and/or university level. Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent ESL course. Experience with heterogeneous group.
