Every child’s imagination should be inspired by the arts.
West End in Schools’ mission is to use the skills of the professional theatre to provide highly creative cultural experiences for children which they will remember forever.
Each year we deliver dance, drama and Shakespeare workshops and perform musicals and pantomimes in well over 1,000 schools all over England, Wales and Scotland.
You will gain unique insights into both the theatre industry and education sector as you join our existing HQ team of seven people.
We are always looking for people that reflect our diverse communities, to help us work in new ways and become more relevant to the schools and children we serve. We recognise that this is not yet present in our current workforce, so we particularly welcome and encourage applications from people with diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
You will support our Workshop Coordinator looking after our team of freelance dancers and drama facilitators – the teaching artists who lead our workshops. You will be involved in their recruitment, retention, training, pastoral care and allocation of work.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week from Monday to Friday starting between 0830 and 1000 daily, with an hour for lunch.
Dates: Fixed term from Tuesday 27 October 2026 to Thursday 25 March 2027 with very limited holiday apart from at Christmas – so accrued holiday pay will be paid at the end of the contract.
Salary: £28,860 p.a., plus pension, and 28 days holiday pro rata.
Perks: Employee Assistance Programme with access to advice and counselling. Discounts, and special viewings at Somerset House, where there are multiple cafes, restaurants and bars on site. Christmas period paid shutdown, with dates tbc.
Location: 3 days work remotely, 2 days work from Somerset House in the West End. Some days you will work from rehearsal rooms in London or Manchester. (Travel and accommodation expenses for Manchester would of course be paid by the company.)
We’re looking for someone who:
– is super organised and unflappable
– can quickly pick up existing systems
– has a ‘how do we make this work’ attitude.
– has a love of the arts, and the potential it unleashes in young people
– is numerate, analytical and computer literate.
– has an engaging telephone manner and is able to form and maintain working relationships quickly in a friendly way.
Our company is small, and so by its very nature everybody does a little bit of everything!
