The Department of Community Health Sciences seeks an innovative health economist with a passion for Canadian health policy to fill a tenured/tenure-track position at the assistant/associate level. We offer a supportive, research-intensive environment in which to develop your independent research program. We provide access to Statistics Canada microdata through the RDC, to de-identified linked individual-level data from a variety of government departments, including healthcare, education, justice, immigration and social/families through the Manitoba Population Health Data Repository, and excellent students at all levels. Opportunities to collaborate exist across campus, and include the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy, the Manitoba Research Data Centre, the Institute for Global Public Health, and Ongomiizwin Institute of Indigenous Health. We are building strength in Canadian health economics and welcome your ideas.

THE POSITION
The successful candidate will hold an academic appointment with the Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS), Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences (http://umanitoba.ca/faculties/health_sciences/medicine/units/chs/).

The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is a research and training-intensive interdisciplinary department that focuses on creation, preservation, and communication of knowledge with respect to the health of populations and thereby contributes to the well-being of the people of Manitoba, Canada and the world. CHS has 52 full-time faculty members, including 10 Canada Research Chairs, and the largest thesis-based graduate program in RFHS. CHS has active collaborative research and educational programs in epidemiology, biostatistics, health-related social sciences, global public health, Indigenous health, family health, violence and injury prevention, aging and other areas.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent research program that focuses on building knowledge and research capacity in Canadian health economics, and to contribute to teaching and graduate supervision within CHS.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a doctoral degree in Economics. Necessary qualifications for the position include evidence of research quality and productivity appropriate to career stage, as demonstrated by a track record of research activity. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic and visionary individual with excellent communication, collaboration and leadership skills, and an interest in promoting diversity, equity and inclusion, and human rights and social justice in research, teaching and service activities.
