The Department of Human Physiology and Nutrition invites applications for a non-tenure track, open-rank Teaching Professor position (Assistant or Associate rank). This is a 9-month, full-time appointment primarily focused on delivering high-quality instruction, with a teaching load primarily comprised of lab sections that accompany larger lecture courses. These lab sections will emphasize the clinical application of physiology within health care settings covering areas such as exercise testing and prescription, ECG interpretation, sport performance and related topics.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collegial department dedicated to preparing students for careers in health care, research, and related fields. The standard workload distribution for this position is 80% teaching (24 credit hours annually) and 20% service. Applicants should possess good interpersonal and communication skills, including proficiency in English.
Who We Are:
The Department of Human Physiology and Nutrition in the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences, integrates basic, applied and clinical aspects of human anatomy, physiology, nutrition, dietetics, and exercise science. The Department administers degree programs in Human Physiology and Nutrition (BS), Exercise Science (BS), Applied Physiology (MSc), and Nutrition and Dietetics (MSc). Additionally, the Department is responsible for anatomy, physiology and nutrition education across all health-related undergraduate programs (e.g. nursing, pre-medicine, pre-athletic training, pre-physical therapy).
The Department of Human Physiology and Nutrition is housed in the William J Hybl Sports Medicine and Performance Center (Hybl Center; https://www.hyblcenter.org). This state-of-the-art facility is designed to promote a multi-disciplinary and highly collaborative approach to education, research and clinical practice, driven by teamwork and a passion for translating research into real-world solutions. It promotes the concept of “Exercise and Nutrition as Medicine” for patients with various diseases and/or disorders. This project benefits from a close partnership between UCCS and Common Spirit Health that brings together a unique and unparalleled combination of clinical practice, undergraduate and graduate education, combined with clinical, faculty and student research. This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
What We Offer:
Salary Range: Generally starting at $50,000 – $55,000 for Assistant Teaching Professor rank and $57,000 – $59,000 for Associate Teaching Professor rank.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk.
