JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Department of Nutritional Sciences in Penn State’s College of Health and Human Development is seeking a highly motivated and versatile Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor for a 48-week, non-tenure track appointment. The successful candidate will teach in the in-residence Nutritional Sciences undergraduate and graduate major with responsibility for courses related to performance nutrition and will have some instructional responsibilities in the online Masters’ of Professional Studies program and/or summer session General Education courses.
The successful candidate will possess instructional expertise and will have demonstrated skills in communicating with undergraduate and graduate students and the ability to teach master’s level courses in residence and online focused on performance nutrition and applied nutrition. It is expected that the person will help build the nutrition-related courses for the new MPS in Human Performance Science. The ultimate expected teaching responsibilities are 27 credits. The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute service to the Department of Nutritional Sciences and may contribute to service to Intercollegiate Athletics. This faculty person may also have the opportunity to collaborate within an Integrated Support Team as a sub-division within the Human Performance Science Department.

The appointment will be either an Assistant Teaching Professor or as Associate Teaching Professor based on the selected candidate’s qualifications. The position of Assistant Teaching Professor requires a doctoral degree in Nutrition or a closely related discipline and one to two years of related experience. The position of Associate Teaching Professor requires a doctoral degree in Nutrition or a closely related discipline, five or more years of teaching experience, and demonstrated excellence in one or more areas, including the design and development of new courses and/or course revisions; introduction of innovative teaching and/or assessment methodologies; support of curricular affairs.

This is a term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with an excellent possibility of re-funding.
