Job Summary: 

As the Assistant Dean and Director of the Business Career Center (BCC) at BYU Marriott, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the professional development and career placement opportunities for our diverse student body. With over 3,800 undergraduate and graduate students, 1,300 business minors, and 2,500 pre-business students, you will lead a dedicated team of professionals and student employees towards achieving our mission of nurturing leaders who excel in their professions and communities. This role reports to the Administrative Dean and supervises 6 BCC employees directly and 11 employees indirectly. What you’ll do as the Assistant Dean and Director of Business Career Center: 

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute strategic initiatives to ensure the success of the BCC in fostering the career growth of our students. Manage a substantial budget of $3.2 million to optimize resource allocation and uphold financial stewardship principles.
  • External Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with corporate partners, recruiters, alumni, and industry stakeholders to expand recruitment opportunities and enhance student placement prospects. Spearhead innovative approaches to engage with stakeholders and establish new avenues for collaboration.
  • Placement Activities: Advocate for BYU Marriott students by effectively showcasing their unique strengths and capabilities to recruiters. Provide guidance and support to career service directors in mentoring students and fostering valuable industry connections. Stay abreast of market trends and adapt strategies to meet evolving student and industry needs.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead and mentor multiple teams within the BCC, including Career Services, Recruiting Operations, Healthcare Industry Career Management, Young Professional Advisory Council Program, Employer and Early Professional Alumni Engagement, Experiential Learning Program, and Office Management. Facilitate a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

 

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in corporate finance, accounting, marketing, operations, or business development

 

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree
  • 15+ years of experience in a Fortune 500 setting with management experience

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in CRM systems and other management tools
  • Strong strategic planning and project management skills
  • Excellent communication abilities across various platforms
  • Proven track record of collaboration and relationship-building
  • Extensive professional network and business development expertise
