The University of Oxford and Ludwig Cancer Research are adding to our growing group of cancer researchers. We are seeking individuals at early to mid-stage career stages (Assistant or Associate Professor level).
The University of Oxford is a world-class research environment which has made a substantial commitment to biomedical research. The Ludwig Cancer Institute is part of the Nuffield Department of Medicine situated within the Old Road Campus in Headington Oxford, and forms the focus of cancer research throughout the University. We closely collaborate with other departments and institutes on the campus including the Kennedy Institute (immunology), the Jenner Institute (vaccines), the Big Data Institute (computational biology), IDRM (developmental biology), STRUBI (structural biology) and the Target Discovery Institute amongst many others. We also have ready access to investigators working throughout the University in areas such as chemistry, mathematics, physics and biology.
The Ludwig Institute is an international organisation that supports 3 core-funded branches (Oxford, Princeton and Lausanne) as well as individual investigators throughout the world. Its aim is to advance our basic knowledge of cancer and apply this towards improvement in cancer care. The Oxford branch has particular expertise in epigenetics and the development of novel technologies to study this problem. We are especially interested in growing our expertise in epitranscriptomics, RNA biology, single-cell/spatial approaches, microenvironment (especially myeloid biology), and structural epigenetics, but are open to any area of novel investigation. We encourage cross-disciplinary science which brings together different approaches, including close collaboration between basic scientists and clinical colleagues in the nearby cancer hospital.
Our research is well-supported through a core funding mechanism, which provides support for PI salary, Ph.D. students, postdoctoral fellows and consumables. We have access to state of the art core facilities including high resolution microscopy, cryoEM, ultra-sensitive mass spectrometry and CRISPR screening.
Candidates should hold a relevant PhD level qualification and are expected to develop independent research programs. Evidence of productivity in publications and collaboration is a key criteria. We offer competitive salaries, strong institutional commitment, comprehensive benefits, and an outstanding work and life environment with family friendly policies, an on- campus nursery and easy access to London and European cities.
Interested parties should prepare the following materials as PDF documents and submit the materials to our departmental coordinator: eoi@ludwig.ox.ac.uk
The closing date to submit your documents is Friday 1st November 2024
