Description

The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences (New College) at Arizona State University is seeking one active and engaged scholar who will assist with developing and delivering the curriculum for the online Master of Science in Psychology (Mandarin Pathway) program. This program was launched in Fall 2020 with the goal of providing access to graduate studies in psychology for learners located in China and other Asian countries. We are particularly interested in individuals who can contribute to new degree concentrations in Positive Psychology, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, and/or Sport Psychology.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure-track position with an appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor, to start in August 2025. The position allows for the possibility of campus teaching and/or remote work, subject to annual approval by the university for remote work exceptions. This position carries a teaching load of 4 courses per semester.

Essential Functions of the Position:

• Teach psychology and related courses primarily online at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in both English and simplified Chinese.
• Develop, maintain, and update course materials as appropriate to the field and modality in both English and simplified Chinese.
• Translate course materials from English into simplified Chinese as needed.
• Coordinate regular training and supervision of graduate student teaching assistants.
• Provide service to the school, college, university, community, and/or profession.
• Monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and guidance to support their academic success

To be considered for an Associate Teaching Professor position, one must have at least five years of relevant teaching experience and have successfully gone through the promotion process at another institution.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or terminal degree in psychology or related field at time of hire
• Fluency in Mandarin (simplified Chinese) and English

Desired Qualifications:

• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio- economic and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college students
• One or more years of experience teaching at the postsecondary level in the field of psychology with evidence of teaching excellence (Assisting Teaching Professor)
• Experience (through research or teaching) in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Sport Psychology, and/or Positive Psychology
• Capacity to teach broadly across a variety of courses in psychology at both the undergraduate and graduate level
• Experience in online instruction and course development utilizing course management systems such as Canvas
• Experience in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; Knowledge in training and supervising teaching assistants
• Excellent communication skills
• Administrative experience related to managing academic programs
• Commitment to ongoing professional development
