An earned entry-level degree in physical therapy is required and a terminal degree (PhD, EdD, DHSc) is desired at the time of hire (or in progress). The successful candidate is expected to contribute to and enhance teaching and mentoring activities within the DPT program, as well as participate in community and professional service appropriate for a university faculty member. The candidate should be a licensed physical therapist in Tennessee or their state of residence.
The DoA will collaborate with collective faculty and the University of Memphis Graduate School on recruitment and admissions and contribute to marketing for the DPT program. This individual will ensure that recruitment and admissions align with university guidelines and accreditation standards. Successful candidates should possess excellent communication skills, along with strong computer skills to meet the needs of the electronic admissions application service, PTCAS. Understanding of university marketing and recruitment would be advantageous. We are eager to identify a candidate who shows a genuine appreciation of evidence-based teaching, integration of technology within the classroom and building a student-centered community within the classroom. The candidate should be prepared to deliver a contemporary, entry-level physical therapy curriculum focused on developing leaders in service to meet the needs of society and the profession. This position will also serve as the DoA leading the development, organization, and implementation of the DPT admissions process and procedures. Other responsibilities include course and program assessment, accreditation activities, academic advising, and coordinating and overseeing admission interviews.
