Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Assistant Professor – Teaching, Department of Public Health at its Detroit campus location.

The Department of Public Health invites applications for an Assistant Professor (Teaching) position. We seek an engaged colleague with demonstrated professional and teaching experience consistent with our department’s needs. Candidates should have substantive scholarly expertise in a defined area of public health. The ideal candidate will have experience delivering educational and/or training experiences in community, offsite, and/or community college locations as we strive to improve our outreach to these important partners.
The successful candidate will join a vibrant and engaged academic unit collectively dedicated to addressing and eliminating health disparities. Our faculty have achieved national and international reputations for excellence in their respective fields of research including mental health and suicide prevention, gender and reproductive health, patient-centered outcomes assessment, immigrant health, and chronic disease prevention. Our instructors are public health professionals working in city and county health departments, hospitals and health care institutions, and non-profit organizations in our region. Teach a 3:3 load to support a range of required, elective, and General Education courses including but not limited to Introduction to Public Health, Social and Behavioral Aspects of Public Health, LGBTQ Health, Reproductive Health, etc.
Participate in curriculum development and propose/deliver new courses that align with their substantive area of expertise.
Perform meaningful service on department, college, and university committees.
Participate in departmental activities.
Serve their profession and/or community partners.
Other relevant duties as assigned.

Candidates must possess a PhD, DrPH, or equivalent doctoral degree in a public-health-aligned discipline for a position that starts in Fall 2024.
