The position is open to any field within economic science. The Department is interested in candidates with a specialization in public economics; environmental and natural resource economics; labour economics, demographic economics including the economics of minorities, races, Indigenous Peoples, and immigrants; economics of gender; welfare and inequality economics; financial economics; or international trade and finance. Preference may be given to applicants who possess strong potential for research and teaching in these fields. Duties shall include teaching at the undergraduate and Master’s levels in these areas, as well as other areas of specialty that the candidate might have and that are consistent with the teaching needs of the Department.
The position normally requires a completed doctoral degree in Economics. A completed earned doctorate is required for the appointee to receive the rank of Assistant Professor and to be in a tenure-track position. If a successful candidate has not completed an earned doctorate, the candidate shall be appointed to a regular term, non-renewable three-year appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. If the candidate completes all the requirements for the doctorate during the first 24 months of the term appointment, the candidate shall begin a tenure-track appointment following completion of the requirements of the degree. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
