Job Description

The London Philharmonic Orchestra has an exciting vacancy for an Assistant Stage Manager. The role involves supporting the Stage & Operations Manager with all aspects of planning and delivery for the Orchestra’s rehearsals, concerts, film sessions, and recordings in the UK and abroad, as well as leading on regional residencies and education projects. We are seeking a practical, organised and proactive team player with strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and the flexibility to work varied hours and travel internationally.

Job Requirements

Essential

  • Ability to relate easily with colleagues and contacts at all levels

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Lifting and manual handling experience
  • Efficiency and an ability to look ahead and anticipate problems
  • Physically fit
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Willingness to work throughout the UK and overseas
  • Willingness to undertake any training which may be required

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a technical/production department in the performing arts sector, preferably with an orchestra or concert venue
  • Ability to read and understand stage plans
  • An understanding of the day to day working practices of an Orchestra, its musicians, and the conductors and soloists with whom it works
  • Knowledge of the methods and practices employed in handling, packing, loading, unloading and stowing musical instruments
  • A minimum 2 years clean driving licence
