Position Function:
Vacancy for an Assistant Teaching Professor at Mississippi State University on the Starkville Campus. The Gender Studies Program invites applicants for a non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor position in the humanities beginning Fall 2024. The candidate must have knowledge of gender studies and will be expected to enhance the teaching mission of the program’s undergraduate minors in gender studies and social justice studies, as well as the graduate certificate in gender studies through development and rigor of on-campus courses and distance courses.
Salary Grade: UC

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities: MSU offers undergraduate minors in gender studies and social justice studies, as well a graduate certificate in gender studies. Primary responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses depending on the needs of the program, performing service activities, and serving on various program, college, and university committees. A course load of 4/4 is standard with the opportunity for course releases for additional service.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Gender Studies, Women’s Studies, Sexuality Studies, Communication, History, English, Religion, Philosophy or a closely related field in the humanities with demonstrated emphases in gender, sexuality, and/or women’s studies. ABD’s will be considered if the degree will be completed by August 15, 2024.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with instruction and course development. Previous experience with both lower-level and upper-level gender studies courses. Previous experience with both online and in-person courses. Interest in undergraduate advising, course scheduling, and undergraduate curriculum.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Candidates should be a dynamic educator with teaching experience preferred. Candidate should have interest in undergraduate curriculum and course scheduling.
