Job Summary:
The Department of Bioengineering at the University of Colorado Denver nearmejobs.eu Anschutz Medical Campus seeks a full time Assistant Teaching Professor. The major responsibilities for this position are to lead, develop, and teach courses across the undergraduate and graduate curricula and help integrate best practices in engineering education across the Department.
This is a key teaching and leadership position within the Department of Bioengineering. The Department is a dual campus program with the first two years of course work in our B.S. degree delivered at the Denver campus and the second two years at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Curricula for graduate programs (M.S., Ph.D.) are delivered on the Anschutz Medical Campus.
The successful candidate will lead the Department’s design experience, beginning with first year design and prototyping courses and culminating in the fourth year capstone experience. Medical product design and development in all aspects is an essential theme for the department; undergraduate students take five semesters of design and learn not only the general components of design thinking and process but also the specific components required for medical devices. The successful candidate will support design course instructors and provide alignment of program objectives through the core curriculum. Since the identification and filtering of clinical needs comprise a core component of our design teaching, this work will include interfacing with multiple clinical clients on the Anschutz Medical Campus. The successful candidate will also be expected to conduct pedagogical research and help implement best practices in various aspects of engineering education, ethics, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
This is a non-tenure track position with the following required qualifications:
- PhD or other terminal degree in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Medicine, or related discipline, with significant experience in professional design and/or in design teaching
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
- Experience in course and curriculum development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
- Experience advising and mentoring students
- Experience in course and curriculum development
- Experience supporting and managing student functions and programs
- Scholarly research skills and experience
- Training in implementation of contemporary pedagogical research in the classroom
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Effective communication and interpersonal/human relations skills
- Strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and success
- Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population, including minoritized and international students
- Interested and committed to growing a new and innovative team-orientated program
- Experience teaching online and using online learning platforms

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range for this position has been established as:
$75,000 – $90,000 per 9 month academic year, with the option for summer salary if external funding is available.
The above salary ranges represent the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
