Responsibilities:

The School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs seeks to fill a full-time non-tenure track job opening for an Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Full Teaching Professor in Public Administration. The appointment will be on Northeastern’s Boston campus to begin in Fall 2025.

Responsibilities include teaching six courses per academic year (three courses in each semester), including such topics as:

  • Public Budgeting and Financial Management
  • Techniques of Policy Analysis
  • Quantitative and/or qualitative methods courses in the core curriculum
  • Other graduate and undergraduate courses in Public Policy & Urban Affairs and related fields depending on campus and program needs.

This position will support the Master of Public Administration (MPA), Master of Public Policy (MPP), and related programs in person on Northeastern’s Boston, Massachusetts campus and online in Northeastern’s global network. 

The successful candidate will also participate actively in the life of the Policy School and the Boston campus, including graduate recruitment, co-curricular activities, and community partnerships.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Public Policy, Public Administration, Economics or related fields in hand by the employment start date is required.
  • Candidates should provide evidence of teaching excellence, including student evaluations and sample course materials.
  • Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive environments and to promoting experiential learning, both of which are central to a Northeastern University education.
  • Public sector (government or nonprofit) work experience and/or a relevant professional degree (MPP, MPA) is strongly preferred.
