Position Details

The Department of Communication within the College of Arts and Letters at The University of Tampa seeks to hire a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor to begin August 2024. This non-tenure track position is eligible for promotion.

We are looking for a communication generalist who can teach undergraduate courses such as Media and Society, Visual Literacy, Digital Citizenship, and film studies courses. The teaching load for this position is four courses (16 credit hours) per semester. There is an expectation that this line will continue. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching. We welcome innovative pedagogies, and varied research agendas and traditions of scholarship.

A master’s degree in communication or related field is required. A Ph.D. is preferred. 

The University of Tampa’s Communication Department houses four vibrant majors in Communication, Media Studies; Communication and Speech Studies; Advertising and Public Relations; and Journalism. The department also contributes graduate programs in Professional Communication and Social and Emerging Media. The communication curriculum is designed to meaningfully explore critical perspectives on media and culture as it prepares students to engage as citizens and professional communicators.
