The College of Health Solutions’ Movement Sciences Program at Arizona State University is seeking a full-time, 9-month career track instructional faculty member at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor to teach in our growing and reputable Kinesiology degree, with potential opportunities to teach courses in other movement sciences degree programs. This degree is currently offered in-person but will also be offered online beginning in the fall of 2025. This is a fixed-term appointment that is renewable annually. Subsequent one-year appointments may be offered, under the same terms and conditions, at the discretion of the college and university.
Responsibilities for this position include teaching and potentially developing in-person and online undergraduate courses on various topics and providing service to the College and relevant degrees. Courses will primarily be in Kinesiology (KIN) but may include other undergraduate degrees in the movement sciences area (Sport Science and Performance Programming or Clinical Exercise Science). Courses may be offered at multiple campuses or in online format, depending on student enrollment and interest. Applicants must present evidence of teaching experience and a strong commitment to high quality teaching at the undergraduate level. Courses in these programs utilize extensive active-learning and apply the most recent evidence-based teaching methods, which requires faculty to demonstrate not only adequate content knowledge but also advanced pedagogy. Candidates with teaching skills specific to exercise psychology and/or motor behavior are preferred but an ability to teach across a breadth of exercise science courses is desired. Typical workloads for instructional faculty are consistent with 80% teaching (usually equivalent to four courses [12 credit hours] per semester) and 20% service. This position may have joint teaching responsibilities on various campus locations and/or across modalities.

About the College of Health Solutions
The College of Health Solutions is dedicated to transforming scientific health and educational research and discovery into practical applications that improve health and educational outcomes through education, research, and service. We equip students with the skills and knowledge to influence healthier lifestyle choices, create innovative health interventions, interpret and apply large-scale health data, and advance diagnostics through technology, science, and business applications. Faculty at the College of Health Solutions address challenges in three primary focus areas: (1) health care systems and population health needs, (2) health and human performance across the lifespan, and (3) personalized interventions in precision health. Through these focal areas, we tackle complex health issues requiring interdisciplinary collaboration, translational research, and innovative solutions, with a special emphasis on reducing health and educational disparities in underserved populations.
Our research spans basic science, discovery, clinical trials, intervention science, and health and educational outcomes measurement. Across all areas, faculty use interdisciplinary approaches to address the underlying systems shaping health outcomes. We prioritize collaboration, transparency, and team-oriented work. Our innovative structure includes translational teams that bring scientific advances from labs to communities with evidence-based interventions, and affinity networks where experts collaborate to improve methodologies and processes. All our programs, whether in classrooms or community settings, are designed to improve health and education for individuals and populations.
Current training programs by areas of study include biomedical informatics, biomedical diagnostics, health care systems, health sciences and medical studies, movement sciences, nutrition, population health, health care systems, and speech, language, and hearing science. These programs are available at ASU’s Downtown Phoenix, Tempe, and Polytechnic campuses, as well as the Mayo Clinic’s north Phoenix campus.
