Job Summary
This nine-month, teaching-track faculty position requires teaching undergraduate and potentially graduate courses in the School, mentoring students, providing service to the school, college, university, and professional organizations, and acting as the program coordinator for the Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine program.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate coursework in sports medicine.
- Coordinating the Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine Program.
- Developing relevant curriculum and performing program assessments.
- Mentoring students toward professional career goals.
- Participating in service to the university, college, school, community, and professional organizations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Earned doctorate in a Sports related healthcare field (Kinesiology, Athletic Training). (ABD considered). Those with a Master’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience may be considered in lieu of a doctorate
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated experience in teaching at the college or university level.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds, programs, and colleges.
Preferred Qualifications
- BOC certified (ATC) and eligible for licensure in Mississippi.
- Experience supervising student research.
- Additional certifications (AHA CPR instructor, EMT basic, CSCS, etc…)
- Experience in program coordination or academic leadership.
- Active involvement in professional organizations related to Sports Medicine.
