Position overview
Position title: Chief, Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, Burns and Acute Care Surgery
Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $500,000 – $700,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description
The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, Burns and Acute Care Surgery (http://trauma.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body. The department is seeking a Chief, Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, Burns and Acute Care Surgery. This is a full-time faculty position at the Associate Professor or Full Professor level.

The chief role is responsible for teaching, research and patient care encompassed in the division and for leadership of institutional programs in trauma, burn, and surgical critical care and system-wide emergency general surgery. The successful candidate will establish collegial and productive relationships with multidisciplinary colleagues within and outside of the Department of Surgery. The successful candidate will be expected to be an effective administrator, expert clinician, productive scholar and exceptional educator.
The appropriate series and appointment will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidates must have a MD or equivalent.
Candidates must be Board certified in General Surgery and must also have a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care.
Candidates must have completed a fellowship program in Trauma Surgery.
Candidates must also have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in leadership, teaching, and clinical or translational research with a record of extramural funding in the fields of Trauma/Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery.
Candidates must also have 5+ years of clinical and research contributions to the fields of Trauma and Acute Injury/Surgery.
