Job Description:The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) is looking to hire an Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs.The Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs (AVPAA) is a key member of the academic leadership team responsible for fostering a culture of academic excellence, faculty development, and student success. This individual serves as a liaison between faculty and the administration, providing strategic leadership and support in areas of faculty hiring; professional development; teaching and learning; student success and retention; and academic policies and procedures.This position is on-campus and requires flexibility that includes evening and weekend commitments. The AVPAA will be expected to engage actively in the campus community and uphold the institution’s core values.Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the salary range for this non-represented position is $95,000-$110,000 and will take into consideration the salary of current UMS employees for transfer/promotion, plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents. - Earned doctorate or terminal degree in a relevant field.
- A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, including teaching, scholarship, and leadership.
- Demonstrated success in faculty development, academic program management, and accreditation processes.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities, with a commitment to shared governance.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks, complete complex projects in a timely manner, ask questions, and communicate concerns proactively and respectfully.
- Knowledge of trends and challenges in higher education, including emerging pedagogies and technologies.
