Overview

Are you a Licensed Clinical Pharmacist looking to make a meaningful impact while enjoying the flexibility of remote work? BroadPath is seeking an experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join our remote team in shaping the future of pharmacy benefit management! As a Clinical Pharmacist, your role will be crucial in leading utilization management initiatives for drug therapies, evaluating prior authorization requests using your clinical expertise, and developing and maintaining evidence-based pharmacy guidelines.

This is a work from home role, with a part-time schedule (8-10 hours per week). The position is temporary with possibility of longer-term extension.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate prior authorization requests and make coverage determinations based on member benefits and clinical criteria
  • Support the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee by developing clinical guidelines and drug utilization protocols
  • Provide clinical expertise for prescription claim reviews and pharmacy operations
  • Collaborate with pharmacy staff to implement and improve utilization management programs
  • Serve as a clinical resource for internal staff regarding medication therapy
  • Mentor pharmacy students and guide pharmacy technicians

Clinical Expertise

  • Review and analyze industry trends to develop clinical criteria
  • Utilize clinical resources, including LexiComp, Micromedex, UptoDate, and NCCN guidelines
  • Design and implement clinical edits for claims adjudication
  • Resolve member and provider inquiries regarding prior authorizations and formulary services

Lead strategic clinical initiatives, including:

Opioid Management

  • Conduct retrospective reviews of high-dose opioid usage
  • Collaborate with prescribers on dosage optimization
  • Educate providers on CDC guidelines and Medication Assisted Treatment

Cost Management

  • Monitor high-cost utilization across pharmacy and medical benefits
  • Implement medication reconciliation programs
  • Identify cost-effective therapeutic alternatives

Behavioral Health

  • Optimize complex psychiatric medication regimens
  • Partner with case management to improve patient outcomes
  • Develop and track medication optimization plans

Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience with specialty medications or direct prior authorization experience
  • 1 year of current experience in Diabetes, Cholesterol, Hypertension, Asthma/COPD management
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree
  • Active, current and unrestricted State of Arizona (a state in the United States) pharmacist license

Preferred Qualifications 

  • 5 years as a practicing pharmacist
  • 3 years of experience in the managed care pharmacy field
  • 2 years of direct prior authorization experience
  • 1 year of experience with ACA formulary and utilization management
  • 2 years of experience with Medicare Part D formulary and utilization management
  • Working knowledge of MediSpan data system, including GPI drug classification system
  • 1 year of current experience performing drug efficacy-cost analysis
  • 1 year of pharmacy clinical program reviews (MTM or other)
  • Pharm. D with residency or fellowship preferred

Preferred Licenses

  • Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP)
  • Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (CGP)

Preferred Certifications

  • Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE)
