Summary of Job Duties:

The Blackboard Support Specialist provides second-tier support by troubleshooting problems faculty, staff, and students report while using Blackboard LMS and other learning technologies. The Blackboard Support Specialist reports to the Blackboard Support Coordinator under the Learning Technology Support Manager and works collaboratively and cooperatively as part of the learning technology support team.
The Blackboard Support Specialist must effectively communicate about various topics including, but not limited to, student response clickers, Kaltura, Respondus Lockdown Browser, and ProctorU; blend creativity, problem-solving, and decision-making to positively impact the user experience; de-escalate any negative situations and resolve user questions and concerns.
This is a shift position with the possibility of scheduled shifts Monday through Sunday. Although 90% remote, an essential job duty is regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance, including participation in meetings and activities of the department and collaboration with team members and supervisors to ensure the smooth operation of the department.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • At least one year of experience in technical support

Applicable equivalencies may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience providing technical and procedural support to a diverse clientele with various experience levels 

  • Experience in supporting faculty and/or students in a higher education setting

  • Experience in a customer service position 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of learning management systems, web-conferencing, lecture capture, streaming video, and other technologies that support instruction 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools 

  • Excellent written communication and troubleshooting skills

  • Strong organizational, time management, customer service, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to respond to and track requests quickly and efficiently via established processes

Additional Information:

Salary Information:

$34,500 – $36,000 (commensurate with education and experience)
