Job Summary

Confidance are seeking 2-3 new Board Members to join Confidance’s Board of Directors in 2025. We are looking for committed and creative individuals who want to support us with our new 3-year growth plan, and make a real difference to the lives of learning disabled people in Kent.

Job Description

This is a great opportunity to work with a small scale not-for-profit with big ambitions and a new three year growth plan. Your contribution will influence the way dance and movement are developed with and for learning disabled people across Kent.

Confidance are an inclusive dance company based in East Kent, working with learning disabled and neurodivergent people. We believe that all people should have access to high quality dance education and careers in the arts. Through three core programmes, we teach dance were there is a lack of it: in schools, communities and in professional environments.

Our work is hyper-local and long-term, building partnerships and connections across Kent which lead to transformational change for the lives of learning disabled people. We continue to remove barriers to dance by listening to our participants and artists, exploring how learning disabled people and allies can inform social change.

Role of Board Members:

We are looking for people who have the time and skills to support us on our mission for social change. The role will include attending 4 meetings per year, being an advocate for Confidance’s work and working alongside other board members to deliver our 3-year plan.

We are particularly keen to hear from people who:

Are learning disabled or neurodivergent
Have experience in financial management or fundraising
Have experience in safeguarding
Have worked on strategic development in small organisations or charities

We welcome interest from people of all ages and backgrounds and actively encourage applications from those who are underrepresented in arts governance, including people from the Global Majority, disabled people, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Job Requirements

We are looking for a Board Members who:

  • Are committed to our mission and values
  • Are willing to devote time to preparing for and attend meetings (approximately 4 per year, online)
  • Can offer independent judgement and creative thinking
  • Will work well as part of a diverse and inclusive team
  • Understands (or is willing to learn about) the legal responsibilities of being on a Board of Directors
  • Understands barriers to inclusion for the learning disabled community, and is committed to finding accessible, creative solutions

If our work is of interest to you and you’re passionate about disability-arts, but you are unsure whether you have the correct experience yet, then we’d be delighted to hear from you.

We are committed to providing support for applicants with access needs, so get in touch with us for an informal chat if you want to know more about the role.
