To assist MAPBIO in developing Business Cases for 10 supported projects by conducting market analysis, comparing technologies, and formulating actionable strategies for deployment and growth. This will enable the projects to achieve market readiness and align with the objectives of the bioeconomy strategy.

Scope Of Work

Under the guidance and technical support of the Bio Rural project team, the consultant will develop the following deliverables:

  • Comprehensive Overview Document: A report detailing the bioproducts, technologies, and business models of the selected projects.
  • Market Analysis and Business Model: A detailed market analysis and business model tailored to each project.
  • Comparative Technology and Product Report: An analysis comparing the technologies and products used in the projects with alternative solutions available in the market.
  • Go-To-Market Strategy Document: A strategic plan defining the market entry approach for each project.
  • Action Plan: A detailed action plan outlining the acceleration process, business deployment, and scaling strategy.
  • Summary Presentation: A concise document or presentation summarizing key findings and recommendations for each project.
  • Monitoring Reports: Regular reports tracking the progress of the acceleration process, business development, and scaling efforts.

The consultant will utilize both primary and secondary research methods, including:

  • Stakeholder interviews and focus groups.
  • Market trend analysis and competitive benchmarking.
  • Collaboration with MAPBIO’s team and partners.

Reporting Arrangements

  • The Sustainable Landscapes Implementation Officer shall provide supervision to ensure the timely and quality delivery of products outlined in the contractual objective
  • The consultant’s work progress will be monitored primarily through periodic face-to-face (or virtual) review meetings, and periodicity will be previously agreed with the Contract Supervisor. In these meetings, it will be addressed, among other things, the overview of the contractual obligations, the development of activities, detailed information on achieved milestones, actual achievements made against the timeline initially set, and any other relevant progress details.
  • GGGI’s supervisor must approve all deliverables. Deliverables 1 and 6 must be completed in Spanish and English; the rest should be completed in Spanish.
  • All the deliverables must be completed by GGGI’s formatting requirements and submitted with proof of editable file back-up (e.g., .docx, .pptx) in the GGGI SharePoint system. Final products must be developed according to standard templates that GGGI will provide the Consultant. Where relevant, the Consultant shall also offer sets of raw data, research materials, and meeting notes related to the contractual objective.

Expertise Required:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Environmental Management, Life Sciences, or related fields.
  • At least 5 (preferably 5) years of professional experience in bioeconomy, sustainability, or business development.
  • Knowledge of sustainable financial instruments and experience in market analysis, data collection, or research in sustainable finance.
  • Postgraduate degree in public policy, finance, or sustainability. (Desirable)
  • Proven experience developing market strategies or business plans.
  • Written and oral communication skills in Spanish and English.
  • Colombian nationality or authorization to work in Colombia.
