CAA CRNA – Ambulatory Surgery Center

Position Description:

The Medical College of Wisconsin is seeking a dedicated CRNA or CAA to join its Adult Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Anesthesiology practice.

At our surgery centers, the practice of anesthesiology encompasses a medically directed team approach involving faculty anesthesiologists, anesthesiology fellows, residents, and advanced practice CRNAs and CAAs. The successful candidate must possess the ability to provide high quality anesthesia care to a complex patient population, working directly under the supervision of our anesthesiologists and as part of a team of highly trained and dedicated team of CAAs and certified nurse anesthetists.

• Froedtert Surgery Center
• Froedtert West Bend Surgery Center
• Froedtert Menomonee Falls Surgery Center
• Drexel Town Square Surgery Center

In this role you will:

• Administer anesthesia to include anxiolysis, sedation and general anesthesia.
• Maintain anesthesia delivery systems and monitors, including testing and calibration.
• Monitor patients during the perioperative period.
• Collaborate in creating anesthetic care plans.
• Perform post-procedure tests on patients to ensure safe and adequate recovery.
• Responsible for the operation of anesthesia equipment to monitor patients while delivering direct patient care.
• Provide direct patient care before, during and after anesthesia to ensure continuity of care and quality.
• Obtain patient medical histories, conduct physical exams, and pre-procedure interviews.
• Review the complete patient medical history with the patient/family.
• Administer/order required diagnostic and laboratory tests.
• Collaborate with Anesthesiologists to provide the planned anesthetic plan.
• Employ CPR or other emergency procedures as indicated.
• Perform various administrative duties, such as collecting medical records, conducting chart reviews, and following up with patients/families pre or post procedure.

In addition to our Physician resident and fellow training programs, we offer a Master of Science in Anesthesia program – one of just 12 in the nation. The program was launched in 2016, recognizing a growing need for skilled anesthetists in Wisconsin and throughout the country. The program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs

Education and Professional Requirements

• CRNA or CAA from an accredited institution and certified from their respective certification body.
• CAA- National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA)
• CRNA- National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)
• Wisconsin licensure (or eligible for)
• Education Preferred: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing is required. Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthetist school or Graduate of an accredited Master of Science in Anesthesia Program is required.
• Medicaid and Medicare (PECOS) enrollment is required. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) is required. American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required. American Heart Association (AHA) is required within 90 days of hire.
