As the California Virtual Academies are public schools and this is a public school teacher position, these are set contracted hours and you must be available/working during these hours while under contract with the California Virtual Academies. You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours.

Start Date

August 2025- Immediate hires as needed throughout the 2025-2026 school year. We are an enrollment based school, we may need to hire teachers at any time throughout the year as our enrollment continues to grow.

Location

Our Administrative Office is located in Simi Valley, CA, but most of our teachers work from home. The California Virtual Academies service students and hire in most California counties, except the following 16 counties: Alpine, Del Norte, El Dorado, Glenn, Humboldt, Lassen, Mariposa, Modoc, Nevada, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Tehama, Tuolumne, and Trinity.

ABOUT THE CAREER & COLLEGE PREP PROGRAM AT CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES AND THE HIGH SCHOOL CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION TEACHER POSITIONS: The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home-based instruction to TK-12 students in California. We use K12, inc. curriculum as the basis for instruction and teachers provide live instruction via the Engageli platform. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are still required to log attendance, attend instructional sessions, and complete coursework daily. In the Career & College Prep Program, we believe in collaboration across content areas and embrace a Project-Based Learning model. High School Career Technical Education (CTE) teachers carry a caseload of both content & homeroom students. They meet with content students throughout the week in their virtual classrooms to provide direct & targeted instruction, as well as support students in coursework, provide additional one-to-one support, & feedback, & grade work within three days of submission. Teachers build lasting relationships with their homeroom students through regular communication throughout the school year & monitor attendance, progress, & engagement, providing interventions when necessary to ensure students remain engaged & learning. HS CTE teachers may meet with their students face-to-face for tutoring and at other in-person opportunities. All teachers are required to proctor state testing.
