Scope of the Chair role
Professor Kirsty Fairclough, mjf’s Chair for the last 6 years, has reached the end of her term:
“Reflecting on my time as Chair of the Manchester Jazz Festival, I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together. The passion & dedication of our team have been the heart & soul of every event, ensuring we bring the magic of jazz to life for our community. It has been an honour to lead such a brilliant group of people, & I am excited to see how the festival continues to grow & inspire in the years to come.”
An interim Chair is currently in place. This is an opportunity for the new Chair to drive mjf’s development at a stimulating time for the organisation, with its fruitful partnerships, robust financial health & strong artistic identity. We are looking for an inspirational cultural leader to guide the organisation through our next period of development, which will include the next rounds of NPO, Regional & Local Authority funding.
NB: Residency in Manchester is not mandatory.
Job Requirements
the Chair will:
- hold the Board & staff to account for mjf’s mission and vision
- raise mjf’s standing within & beyond the cultural sector
- open up dialogue with supporters
- grow mjf’s media connections
- ensure that the Board functions proactively & responsively
- work closely with senior staff to achieve agreed objectives
- act as public ambassador for mjf.
