Sentara is hiring a Night Shift Inpatient Clinical Pharmacist at Sentara Careplex Hospital!

Status: Full Time (80 hrs/biweekly)

Shift: Night 7 on/7 off- 12 hour shifts

Hours: 2100-0830 Monday-Sunday

Holiday Rotation

Required qualifications:

  • BLD – Bachelor’s Level Degree- Pharmacy
  • Virginia Pharmacist license REQUIRED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Certification – American Heart Association (AHA) REQUIRED within 6 months of hire

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior hospital experience for 2 years min strongly preferred

Job responsibilities:

  • Manages patient drug therapy in accordance with the medical staff approved clinical practice standards
  • Maintains current knowledge of drug use through continuing education.
  • Serves as the primary resource for drug information within the hospital
  • Assures the appropriateness of all physician medication orders
  • Precept pharmacy students as assigned.

Sentara Careplex Hospital, located in Hampton, VA, is a 224-bed technologically advanced, acute care facility, and Certified Primary Stroke Center.

At Careplex, we offer eICU® to monitor patients even more closely with state-of-art equipment and computer software. Our outpatient pharmacy makes prescription pick-up more convenient for patients and family members upon discharge from the emergency department or inpatient stays.

Other features include specialized services in heart and vascular, urologic care, along with advanced diagnostic and surgical capabilities, a hospitalist program, and one of the state’s busiest emergency departments. We are also home to the Orthopaedic Hospital at Sentara CarePlex Hospital, the area’s first dedicated orthopedic hospital.

Job Summary

Manages patient drug therapy in accordance with the medical staff approved clinical practice standards. Maintains current knowledge of drug use through continuing education. BLS required within six months of hire. Please note: Clinical Pharmacists working in Sentara Rx (0014891) are excluded from the BLS requirement. Will consider new graduated pharmacists and pharmacists not licensed in Virginia/NC due to relocation. Must have Virginia or North Carolina (applicable to location) license within 90 days of Sentara start date.

Qualifications:

BLD – Bachelor’s Level Degree: Pharmacy (Required)

Basic Life Support (BLS) – Certification – American Heart Association (AHA) RQI, Pharmacist License (RPh) – State license – North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP), Pharmacist License (RPh) – State license – Other/National, Pharmacist License (RPh) – State license – Virginia Department of Health Professionals (VADHP)
