Clinical Research Coordinator A/B (Division of Breast Surgery)
Job Profile Title
Clinical Research Coordinator A
Job Description Summary
The Clinical Research Coordinator A/B will manage and support regulatory and operational aspects of a pragmatic trial that seeks to optimize the collection of social and behavioral determinants of health (SBDOH) for patients newly diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as other research studies assigned by members of the Division of Breast Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania.
Job Description
The Division of Breast Surgery is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual to support day-to-day research efforts of a pragmatic trial optimizing the collection of social and behavioral determinants of health (SBDOH) for patients newly diagnosed with breast cancer. This trial analyzes rates of SBDOH data collection using three self-administered instruments and three modalities (patient portal, text chatbot, and interactive voice response via telephone) to identify the optimal combinations facilitating completion among diverse patients with breast cancer. This position is ideal for those interested in supporting health equity research and identifying logistical barriers to timely receipt of guideline-concordant care. The full-time Clinical Research Coordinator will serve as the lead Coordinator on this trial alongside opportunities to participate in other research studies in the Division of Breast Surgery.
The day-to-day responsibilities of the CRC-A include recruitment and enrollment; data collection, entry, and management in accordance with study protocols; organizing and maintaining the accuracy of all study documentation; assisting Project Managers in preparing submissions to Penn Institutional Review Board (IRB); guiding the activities of Research Assistants; and preparing for and participating in study meetings. This individual will work in a team environment including physician-investigators, project managers, and medical trainees to advance the research mission of the Division and University. These responsibilities will be done with regular to minimal staff supervision, and the ability to work both autonomously and within a team environment is critical.
The day-to-day responsibilities of the CRC-B include fulfilling the above requirements but with greater independence and requiring minimal to no oversight.
The candidate will have strong organizational, time management, and communication skills. Experience working with human research participants in a clinical research environment or other clinical experience is preferred. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in Microsoft Office and databases such as REDCap as well as experience with electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic).
Qualifications
Position is contingent upon continued grant funding.
