Co-op Hardware Engineer – Human-Computer Interaction & System Design

Our team has an immediate co-op opening for an Engineer. 

Responsibilities:

• Conceive, plan, implement, and refine hardware prototypes and sensing systems.
• Develop functional prototypes by sensor integration and circuit design.
• Work with HCI researchers and designers to advance scientific knowledge in business-relevant areas.
• Generate intellectual property such as patents from research findings.

Requirements

What you’ll bring to the team:

• Currently enrolled in a university and registered with school’s co-op program (a minimum program length of 8 consecutive months is required). 
• Familiar with analog, circuit design, and fundamentals to build, debug, and validate prototypes.
• Familiar with signal processing, sensing technologies, computer science fundamentals, and strong problem-solving skills.
• Familiar with C, C++, Python or other programming languages relevant to hardware prototyping and signal processing.
• Relevant experience and strong interest in any of the following areas: Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Sensor, Gesture, Human Factors, and Human-computer Interaction are assets.
• Familiarity with human-computer interaction concepts, common deep learning frameworks and architectures, software engineering skills or statistics, optimization, and numerical methods is an asset.
