Job Title: Communications and Analytics Advisor

Department/Location: USAID Haiti / fully remote home based with 2 x 1 week trips to Washington DC and Bogota

Period of Performance: 6 months starting November 25, 2024

Clearance Required: Facilities Access Clearance, applied for on engagement

Overview:

The Communications and Analytics Expert will contribute written content, graphic visualizations and review/edit documents and products generated by the Health Office for use by USAID/Haiti Communications and by USAID Global Health Bureau. The Expert will also support analytical efforts for the purpose of communicating and disseminating results as part of the communications framework. S/he will work with technical teams to analyze project data, results, and trends across the various sub-sectors in the health office and translate analytical results into public outreach materials and communications.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the communications point of contact for the Health Office and collaborate with USAID/Haiti’s communications staff and Embassy Port Au Prince Public Affairs Section (PAS) to develop internal and external communication materials using various methodologies and mediums.
  • Contribute written content, graphic visualizations and review/edit documents and products generated by the health team for use by USAID/Haiti Communications Team, Embassy PAS, Global Health (GH) Bureau, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Bureau, and other USAID Bureaus and Independent Offices;
  • Conduct virtual review calls with the Monitoring & Evaluation team and AORs/CORs, as well as implementing partners, to identify success stories and work with USAID communications staff to showcase and amplify success stories through multiple media;
  • Coordinate with the Development and Outreach Coordination team to ensure regular updates of project fact sheets and other public-facing documents; submit Health Office communications materials, social media posts, and other updates in a weekly or bi-weekly newsletter to be shared with the Health Office, Mission leadership, and Global Health;
  • Conduct technical analyses, use data visualization and graphic tools to help USAID/Haiti tell its story and improve understanding of USAID’s health work with Washington stakeholders, within the US Embassy in Port-au-Prince, the Government of Haiti, and the global health community.
  • Collaborate with Health Office technical staff to draft health-related narratives and speeches for USAID staff and the US Ambassador to highlight USAID contributions to improving health outcomes in Haiti.
  • Support planning of high-level visits by USG representatives to USAID/Haiti and draft background documents and materials for visits by senior Agency.
  • Support the Health Office in developing annual performance reports, operational plans, Annual Program Results, and portfolio briefs; and support the Health Team in generating and presenting data in graphic formats to easily convey complex concepts and results for laypersons.

Deliverables

All are ongoing. Development of: internal and external communication materials using various methodologies and mediums; public outreach materials and communications developed on the basis on analytical results; weekly updates summary; success stories in collaboration with Health Office MEL team, AOR/CORs, and implementing partners; health-related narratives, speeches and briefings for Health Office, USAID and Embassy leadership. Support to the Health Office in developing operational plans, Annual Program Results, and portfolio briefs.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least five (5) years of experience working in the public health sector is required, preferably with experience in donor funded activities.
  • Must be comfortable working independently, managing several activities at once and working under pressure to meet short deadlines.
  • Must understand and have an appreciation of the highly sensitive political environment in the country.
  • Demonstrated writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to work as a team member.

Education: Minimum of bachelor’s degree in public health, health communications and outreach, analytics, data visualization and graphics, or relevant fields is required.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • French language proficiency is helpful but not required.
  • Additional experience working in health communications and outreach is preferred.
  • Experience with USAID global health programming is preferred.

Physical Requirements: This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Travel: International travel may be required and may include travel to fragile and/or conflict-prone zones.

Work Authorization: Candidate must be authorized to work in USA.
