About the role:

Sun Life is looking for a Corporate Communications Coordinator to join a close-knit, collaborative team focused on progressing the company’s Digital Leadership Strategy. Reporting into the Communications Manager, the selected candidate will learn and do something new each day. This dynamic role will support internal and external communications using a variety of mediums ranging from events, to social, to media.

What will you do?

  • Support internal/external communications by drafting and creating visual content, articles, emails, social media posts and other collateral for distribution to various audiences through multiple channels
  • Logistics and administrative support for large internal events including town halls
  • Review and set up e-mails for distribution to broad audiences
  • Coordinate and collaborate with colleagues on events, translation, and publishing
  • Write, edit, and create graphics to support engaging communications
  • Conduct research for briefing documents and communication plans
  • Track metrics and look for trends in data
  • Help coordinate publishing of internal messages (manage approvals, translation, scheduling, and tracking)
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Communications colleagues and partners across the organization

What do you need to succeed?

  • Degree or diploma in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field
  • A positive, can-do/will-learn attitude
  • Strong writing skills (corporate writing or journalism preferred)
  • High functional knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Beginners level knowledge of Adobe Creative
  • Experience creating visual and engaging content
  • Strong organizational skills with knowledge of project management
  • Passion for research, problem solving, and analyzing data
  • Demonstrated experience developing new ideas and recommending creative solutions
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment
  • General knowledge of media relations and social media best practices and procedures
  • Prior exposure to various communication channels, understanding the pros and cons of each
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a diversified team environment
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and produce materials to meet tight deadlines

Preferred Skills:

  • 1 – 2 years experience in communications, public relations or marketing is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in communications in a Co-op or Coordinator role
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Experience in content creation
  • Experience within the financial services industry an asset
  • Bilingualism (English/French) an asset

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
