EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Full-time position

PRIMARY DUTY: The Computer Software/Programming Specialist serves as the primary programming and technology contact for the Learning & Teaching Center. They will work with the director of the Learning & Teaching Center and Northwest Online, staff, and student staff to assist in developing and maintaining projects, scripts, and programs for various initiatives related to learning and teaching and Northwest Online. They will be responsible for maintenance of all hardware, software, and servers within the office. In addition, they will hire, train, and supervise student staff for the office working closely with two graduate assistants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Manage and maintain servers, computers, and various software and applications.
  2. Oversee and assist with the design and development of programming projects including LTIs used within Northwest Online (Canvas) and projects created for the university community.
  3. Oversee the maintenance of programming projects for the university community currently in use which includes, but is not limited to, OP Student Scheduler Application, OP Textbook Application, Workshop Management System, and an Attendance Tracking System with room kiosks.
  4. Manage and maintain databases.
  5. Oversee student staff and initiatives. 
  6. Assist with support and training of faculty for Northwest Online (Canvas)
  7. Assist with support and training of faculty in resource software such as Lockdown Browser, Turnitin, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.
  8. Manage and maintain approximately 60 Attendance Tracking System Kiosks across campus and the application.
  9. Develop and present professional development presentations for faculty and staff.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: MS in Computer Science Programming

Experience: Experience in programming

Skills: Database knowledge and programming; Object oriented and web-page programming; Basic server knowledge in both Microsoft and Linux servers; Deployment processes for Internet content 

WORKING CONDITIONS: Typical office environment

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise two graduate assistants and 5-15 student employees

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED: Could use any of the following: MS SQL, MySQL, ASP.net, .net Core, C#, Node.js, Java, Python, Vue.js, HTML, CSS, Restful API, Git, Linux, IIS, Glassfish, Nginx, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
