The Global Philanthropy team has focused primarily on capacity building in National Committees and Country Offices to date. In order to develop new income opportunities and capability to achieve de-fined targets in key markets such as Switzerland, the purpose of this assignment is to support the Global Philanthropy team and the committee for UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein in their prospecting, management and stewardship of Ultra High Net Wealth (UHNW) philanthropists and Foundations.
Under the guidance of the Chief of Global Philanthropy and the Global Philanthropy Major Donor Manager and in collaboration with the committee for UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein, the consultant will support with the fast-tracking of UNICEF’s high value pipeline to maximize resources and support for UNICEF programmes to achieve results for children.

How can you make a difference?
- Collaborate with Global Philanthropy team and the committee for UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein to develop a high value and realistic prospect lists of UHNW potential donors.
- Identify prospects, conduct research, and create research products that will help key stakeholders engage, solicit and steward donors. Map networks globally and make recommendations on connections and possible pathways to prospects.
- Carry out a peer exercise for all members of the committee for UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein Trustee Board and Fundraising Committee.
- Work with the Global Philanthropy Major Donor Manager and the committee for UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein to develop robust acquisition and stewardship plans for current high value donors, including uplift giving strategies.
- Attend donor meetings along with the committee for UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein to keep donors updated on their support.
- Manage cultivation events for a UHNW audience, working with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
- Write compelling cases for support and other donor communications which can be readily distributed and adapted by the committee for UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein for their prospects as related to major initiatives launched by UNICEF.
- Prepare a full package of required donor materials, including but not limited to, elevator speeches, Q&A materials, and other materials to prepare major donor fundraisers for solicitation of prospects.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Social Sciences, Humanities, Business Administration or related field is required.
- A first level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in combination with two (2) additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A minimum five years of relevant professional work experience in fundraising (ideally, major gift fundraising), research, communications or a related field is required.
- Knowledge of the principles and practice of fundraising and philanthropy and an understanding of international development is required.
- Knowledge and experience of working in the French speaking part of Switzerland, as well as a strong local network, is an asset.
- Knowledge of corporate social responsibility theory and practice, social and innovative financing, and experience of working in international organizations, are additional assets.
- Experience in the UN system is an asset.
- Fluency in English and French is required. Knowledge of German is considered as an asset.
