Position description

DI provides technical assistance, analytical services and project implementation for democracy, human rights, governance and conflict mitigation programs worldwide for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. State Department and other development partners. Since its founding in 2003, Democracy International has worked with civil society organizations, political parties, election-management bodies, government agencies, legislatures, justice-sector institutions, and others in 80+ countries.

Duties

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides support for procurement and grantmaking processes across the entire company, ensuring adherence to relevant policies and guidelines. 
  • Maintain comprehensive and organized records of all compliance-related documentation and contract templates. 
  • Assists in drafting and/or reviewing various contract documents. 
  • Supports in the implementation of organizational policies, procedures, and protocols on policies to mitigate risks and potential violations. 
  • Coordinates the updates to USAID compliance-related organizational policies, across multiple DI teams. 
  • Assists the Strategy and Design team with preparing contractual documents for proposal submissions and awards, for example, pre-award risk assessments, and teaming agreements. 
  • Provides administrative backstopping for the Contracts and Compliance Team, including formatting documents, tracking compliance related questions from across the organization, and managing time-bound processes to completion, recording action items and other related tasks. 
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), 2 CFR 200, and agency supplemental regulations (ADS, AIDAR, FAM). 

Secondary Responsibilities: 

  • Contribute to, and in some cases lead, development of DI’s internal training related to compliance of USAID rules and regulations. 
  • International travel may be required. Provide support and guidance to interns

Qualifications

  • 2 years of related work experience BA or BS in business, business administration, law, sociology, international development, foreign relations, history, English or a related field. 
  • Excellent written, and verbal communication skills and interest in nuanced or specific details. 
  • Demonstrated interest, experience and/or curiosity in USG regulations. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders who have competing priorities. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative style. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Ability to work a hybrid in-office/remote schedule at DI’s home office in Bethesda, MD
