The S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), a Graduate School of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), is a leading research-intensive and teaching institution in strategic and international affairs and policy-oriented think tank in the Asia-Pacific region.

RSIS invites applications for the position of Coordinator cum Research Fellow in the National Security Studies Programme (NSSP). NSSP’s primary aim is to conduct research into key episodes in Singapore’s national security history and draw out contemporary implications for today. Its research seeks to address a range of national security challenges facing small, globalised, multi-ethnic city-states and generate intellectual capital pertinent for security practitioners.

The successful applicant is expected to contribute to the research output of the Programme which includes policy papers, outreach programmes and executive education. He/She shall assist the Head of NSSP in formulating the research agenda of the Programme, as well as in coordination work with the relevant stakeholders which may include government ministries and agencies. He/She is responsible for the supervision and coaching of NSSP’s junior research staff and ensuring that the Programme’s deliverables are met in a timely manner.

The successful candidate should:

  • Possess a PhD or relevant work experience in national security studies, strategic studies, history, international relations, political science or related field;
  • Possess good writing and research skills with an aptitude and interest for in-depth research in the relevant field; and
  • Possess experience in managing/mentoring a diverse team in the relevant field.
